Once again Nick’s English Hut has given a visitor to Bloomington a taste of what Hoosier hospitality is all about! Recently I was vigilantly tending to the front desk when a guest of ours approached me. He wanted nothing more than to praise the service and quality of food that Nick’s had to offer. He said that the service there really made him feel genuinely welcome and that the salmon he had ordered was “surprisingly good”. Goes to show you why Nick’s English Hut has been a Bloomington hot-spot since 1927. You can visit their site here!

For all of you wondering what to do with your Saturday morning head on down to the Bloomington Farmer’s Market! Get a bite to eat and take home some fresh, locally grown produce. For event times and location follow the link here.
Ever get that feeling like you’re about to spontaneously combust? That seems to be an unnervingly common one here as of late in the Bloomington area. I guess let me put it this way, it has been hot…REALLY hot! All is not lost my friends because Bloomington has a few locations within walking distance of the inn where you can grab yourself any number of ice-creamy or smoothie-tastic treats.
Hartzell’s Ice Cream is located a stone’s throw away from the inn at 107 N. Dunn Street. This place has a very nice assortment of traditional and unique flavors that will have you coming back again and again. My favorite is the Pumpkin Pie ice cream that has actual pieces of pie crust in it. Holy cow is that stuff good! I believe that flavor is seasonal though, it’s really a shame. Take a look at their website for more information!
Another fantastic option is The Chocolate Moose located at 401 S. Walnut Street. This place has been serving the guests and locals of Bloomington since 1933 and shows no signs of stopping any time soon! They also have a wide variety of ice cream flavors to choose from along with other snacks such as sandwiches and hot dogs. Visit them here!
So any time you get that “I’m going to pass out from this heat” feeling make your way down to Hartzell’s Ice Cream or The Chocolate Moose and get the cold cure for what ails you.
